Weve had this for about 2 months now, and I can honestly say it is one of the best investments Ive made for my kitchen in a long time.
Ive used it to bake cornbread, fish, chicken, and ham, all with fantastic results- Frequently use it to make fries, which requires a good spray of oil (Amazon carries many spray bottles you can fill with your own cooking oil), but they turn out great as well.
It comes with 2 racks, and for baking I have found that placing an 8″x8″ Corningware dish on top of the bottom rack works beautifully. This allows hot air to circulate underneath the dish and cooks very evenly.
I had expected it to overcook the center or burn the top, but this wasnt an issue. Its rare to be able to say this, but this oven has exceeded my hopes in every area.
Its well worth the price and has not given me any trouble in the 2 months of nearly daily use.
I have been using convection ovens for the past 30 years. The ones that last longest for me are the ones that use a heating element rather than a halogen lamp, but unfortunately that has been the design trend for the past 15 years.
Halogen lamps warm the air faster, its true, but they also burn out in the order of months. That is the beauty of this unit. Instead of a lamp with a thin heating element, this unit replaces it with a thick metal rod.
The result is an admittedly slower cook, but a MUCH more thorough one when it comes to small items such as french fries, breaded mushrooms, and onion rings.
Also a plus is the fan speed has been ratcheted back from “gale force” as in so many of the other convection ovens Ive owned so that thin items I try to crisp such as strips of peppers, squash, and broccoli dont wind up plastered to the walls or bottom of the cooking bowl.
Overall, Im really thrilled with this unit, and I couldnt recommend it enough.
If you use this correct, you will love it as I do. I did break the bowl but it was my mistake. When putting it on clean mode, the bowl was still hot and I added cold water.
I wrote Nutri Chef asking how to get a replacement and they sent me a new bowl! As far as the knobs, you will break them if you set the timer and then try to change the time by winding backwards.
Once set, leave it alone and if you are done cooking, lift the handle and allow the time to run out all by itself. Dont force the timer! Measure your bowl and you can put in any pans you would put in an oven.
Cake pans, dripping pans etc. This defrosts anything if you put it on the defrost cycle and then t…
